We spent the day traveling to/from Pisa. While our trusty guidebook said this was a 45min in/out experience, we took the whole day. How many folks can say that they napped in the shadow of the leaning tower of Pisa?

We stopped off at a side street market as we walked our way towards main event in Pisa.
The market was full of every type of vegtable imaginable. We were sad that we didn't have cooking facilities to take advantage of all the fresh produce. Noelle snagged a few fresh figs.
The leaning tower is 15 feet off the center axis. We plopped down our 30E and climbed on up to the top, after waiting in a queue for a couple of hours. We passed the time by dozing in the shadow of Pisa. (Well, one of us dozed anyway!)

Climbing to the top of the tower was very odd. The stairs are worn down from centuries of suckers just like us plopping down their money to trek to the top. As you circle around and around, the area of wear on the stairs moves back and forth in accordance to which side of the tower you're standing in. One side causes you to lean in, the other side causes you to lean out. It's very odd.

Top of the Tower! We were all swapping cameras at the top to snap pictures. We'll all tourists! (Where are ya gonna run when you're at the top of the tower?)
This should give you an idea of what was like going up and down the stairs as we worked our way up, and then down, the tower of Pisa.

This is a great shot of Noelle. Aside from being a great shot of Noelle, it also shows that Steve was higher (shooting down) than Noelle when the picture was snapped. Noelle was on the downside, Steve was on the upside of the tower. I'm not sure that there's a picture of either of us on the tower top when we're not clutching the handrail in one form or another.
There's more to tell you, but alas, it's nearing din din time. Love to stay and chat, but, food is food. It took a few days, but we've comfortably settled into the 9PM dinner time each evening.

Gosh, this is great following you two around Italy. I don't think I've actually travelled with anyone and NOT had at least one disagreement. hah. Seriously, following you guys have brought back a flood of memories for me. I think I'll have wine, cheese, ham and olives for dinner...mmmm.

Brinaldo! You make us laugh out loud. You've sure got us nailed. Trying to figure out where we are compared to where we're trying to be has been the setting for more than one, ah, disagreement, that's a much more polite word than I was thinking! ;) I have fallen in love with the ham. Good thing I lost a few pounds before coming here. They've certainly found they're way back to my hips though. sigh.
Ciao, bello.
