1-15-10 Friday, Mito

I started out lazy today, and didn't leave the hotel till almost 11. It was beautiful out. I ventured into a primarily residential area. It was neat. Very warm out, I wanted to take my coat off, but didn't want to carry it. The river outside the hotel:

Hundreds (yes literally) of young people passed me. I think they were headed to the train station. It was the middle of the morning, so I don't know why they were finished with school so early. I passed the school a few blocks up and it took up two city blocks. Huge.

What could I do but start to sing?
Here's a familiar sign! I've also seen Sally Beauty Supply.
Here's one of three buildings of an elementary school I passed. Guess it was time for PE:
It's a few hours later now and I think these were the naughty children. They had aprons over their uniforms and brooms to sweep the paths. There were lots of children all over the playground cleaning up. There was very pleasant, cheerful, circus-type music playing loudly over many speakers. I guess it helped them whistle while they worked. Bahaha.
I was a little scared of being arrested for photographing children, but they looked so cute.
Some houses below. I believe this was part of a wealthy section as their cars were BMW, Lexus and Mercedes. I didn't take pictures in the more crowded neighborhood I walked through. There were people out and about and I didn't want to offend them.
