Day Two Tokyo 1-10-2010

We went to Asakasu to a Temple. Apparently, it was a lucky day, 1-10-2010 and a couple hundred thousand of our newest Japanese friends decided to go the Temple today also. After wandering around it for awhile, we got some lunch from the food vendors. My pictures are backwards, we really saw the Temple first and then ate lunch. I saw them making these "balls" on Anthony Bourdain before and I was super excited to try them.
More vendors.
Yakisoba. This looked yummy.
Steve said, "Let me take your picture before you have my favorite Japanese delicacy."
If they were on Anthony Bourdain's show AND Steve loved them, they must be awesome, right?
Here goes!
And here they come right back up! Steve was lying, he hates them, but thinks its funny to make new people try them! I ate two of them, trying to develope a taste. The wretching noises I made gave me away. Disgusting!
A smaller "outer" temple.

Incense to burn away the evil spirits.
There was a lot of smoke in the air!

We did find a wife for our friends' dog, Jackson!
Tons of people in the line:
People were touching the golden part of that balloon, maybe for good luck.

I can't believe your in Japan! How awesome are the pictures, and I also can't believe you ate something based on the fact your husband has told more than one story about watching people eat icky things for the first time. I must say....your post made me laugh out loud! And, Jackson thinks the little Japanese dog is cute, but worried he might have a hard time understanding her. And, he has Elly. She does look cute in pink! Your pictues are a blast, hope your having a blast as well! What fun!

I know! I should never have trusted him! Those squid balls were so disgusting! All the little dogs here have the cutest outfits. Most have their own carriages, so they don't have to walk. Cats mostly get carried around in these plastic crates with clear round lids. They don't seem to mind! I can't believe I'm in Japan either! lol.
